What did the Native Arabic-Speaking Opponents think of the Quran and Muhammad?

The Native Arabic-Speaking Meccans were absolutely not impressed and considered the verses of the Quran to be nothing but fables from ancient times and lies. They viewed Muhammad as a poet, and their opinion was that he was merely playacting by presenting the Quran to them.
