Despite Muslim's claim of hundreds of miracles by Muhammad, it seems he always failed to show any miracles in front of Pagans and Jews. And he made different excuses every time, which we will see in the incidents below.

The Ist Incident:

The pagan chiefs called Muhammad over, and they asked him to show them some evidence he was actually a divine Prophet. Muhammad couldn't give them any evidence at all. He just made an excuse he was not sent to show any miracle and told them to blindly believe what he says.

Ibn Ishaq 188-189:

"Well, Muhammad," they said, "if you won't accept any of our propositions, you know that no people are more short of land and water, and live a harder life than we, so ask your Lord, who has sent you, to remove for us these mountains which shut us in, and to straighten out our country for us, and to open up in it rivers like those of Syria and Iraq, and to resurrect for us our forefathers, and let there be among those that are resurrected for us Qusayy b. Kilab, for he was a true shaikh, so that we may ask them whether what you say is true or false. If they say you are speaking the truth, and you do what we have asked you, we will believe in you, and we shall know what your position with God is, and that He has actually sent you as an apostle as you say."

He replied that he had not been sent to them with such an object. He had conveyed to them God's message, and they could either accept it with advantage, or reject it and await God's judgement.

They said that if he would not do that for them, let him do something for himself. Ask God to send an angel with him to confirm what he said and to contradict them; to make him gardens and castles, and treasures of gold and silver to satisfy his obvious wants. He stood in the streets as they did, and he sought a livelihood as they did. If he could do this, they would recognize his merit and position with God, if he were an apostle as he claimed to be.

He replied that he would not do it, and would not ask for such things, for he was not sent to do so, and he repeated what he had said before.

They said, 'Then let the heavens be dropped on us in pieces,' as you assert that your Lord could do if He wished, for we will not believe you unless you do so.'

The apostle replied that this was a matter for God; if He wanted to do it with them, He would do it.

They said, 'Did not your Lord know that we would sit with you, and ask you these questions, so that He might come to you and instruct you how to answer us, and tell you what He was going to do with us, if we did not receive your message? Information has reached us that you are taught by this fellow in al-Yamama, called al-Rahman, and by God we will never believe in al-Rahman. Our conscience is clear. By God, we will not leave you and our treatment of you, until either we destroy you or you destroy us.' Some said, 'We worship the angels, who are the daughters of Allah.' Others said, 'We will not believe in you until you come to us with God and the angels as a surety."

When they said this the apostle got up and left them ."

If Muhammad was not sent to show any miracle, why then Moses showed the miracles? Moses showed many miracles openly (The Journey by Night (Al-Isra); 101 (17: 101). They are (link):
1- The staff he was holding in his hand turned into a dragon,
2- His hand became white and shined brightly (the white hand),
3- The miracle of locust/louse disaster,
5- Hordes of frogs  infesting Egypt,
6- Water turning to blood,
8- The children of Israel passing through the sea by the parting of the sea.

And then the Quran claims:

Quran 17:77:

This has been Our Way with the Messengers whom We sent before you. You will find no change in Our Way (Arabic: The Sunnah of Allah).

But the Quran is found to be false here, Muhammad is refuting the Quran by changing the way and denying to show such miracles to pagans of Meccan, which Moses showed to Kuffar of his time.

So, why was Moses showing miracles in front of Kuffar, but Muhammad didn't? The reason is simple, the Quran told only fantasy stories about the miracles of Moses, and no one was able to go into the past and verify those stories about the miracles of Moses. But Muhammad had to perform the miracles live in front of Pagans, and he was not in a position to do so.

It's also interesting that the pagans said they knew Muhammad was getting taught by a man called al-Rahman. Muhammad was simply repeating things someone else was teaching him.

The 2nd Incident: Muhammad was unable to immediately (or properly) answer the questions that the Meccans asked him

This time Muhammad again changed the so-called Sunnah (way/practice) of Allah and indeed became ready to show the miracle.

Pagans of Mecca wanted to test Muhammad's claims. Jews wrote to Meccans to ask Muhammad 3 questions.

And when Meccans asked those questions from Muhammad, then he was unable to answer those questions for the next 15 days. And he made an excuse that Gabriel didn't come to him with answers due to the presence of a puppy in his home.

Imam Syuti recorded the following tradition in the commentary under verse 18:23 (link):

Ibn Mundhir narrated from Mujahid that pagans of Quraysh gathered and they said to Muhammad: "You have deviated from the religion of our ancestors. From where did you get this new religion?" Muhammad replied: "This religion is from Rehman." The Quraysh said: "We don't know any other Rehman except the one from Yemen." The Quraysh considered Musaylmah Kadhab from it (who was another person who claimed false prophethood in the era of Muhammad, and who also claimed his new religion from al-Rahman i.e. God). Then Quraysh wrote to Jews that there had appeared a person among them, who claims himself to be a prophet, and he had left the religion of their ancestors ... Jews replied: "Asked him 3 questions about the Ashab-e-Kuhf (The people of Cave), Dhulqarnain and Ruh (i.e. the Spirit). If he will really be able to reply to those questions, then he is from Rahman who is God. But if Rahman is from Yemen, then he will not be able to reply them." Quraysh became happy upon it and they said to Muhammad: "If you have already left the religion of our ancestors, then tell us about Ashab-e-Kuhf (The people of Cave), Dhulqarnain, and the spirit."  Muhammad said to them: "Come to me tomorrow (and I will reply)." But Muhammad forgot to say Insha-Allah (i.e. if Allah wills). Gabriel came to him after only 15 days. Muhammad said to Gabriel: "Quraysh came to me and they asked me about somethings (as a test of my prophethood), which I didn't know. Thus, I was in a very difficult state during this period." Gabriel replied: "Have you not seen we (i.e. angels) don't enter a house which has a dog or a picture? And there was a puppy in your house (who entered the house and Muhammad didn't know about it)." Upon that it was revealed: [... and do not enquire about those questions from any one of them. And never say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow," Except (when adding), "If Allah wills." Quran 18:22-24] (i.e. puppy entered his house while he forgot to say Insha-Allah).

Muhammad's vague answers to those 3 questions after collecting some incomplete information from the people

Muhammad was inquiring people for information about those 3 questions. After 15 days, he came up with the answers. Nevertheless, the answers were totally vague and a lot of excuses were made by Muhammad/Quran not to answer things clearly and correctly.

Let us see the answers:

(1) The People of Cave (Ashab-e-Kuhf):

Muhammad failed completely in telling the exact numbers of the people of the cave:

Quran 18:22:

Some will say concerning them: "They were three and their dog, the fourth"; and some will say: "They were five, and their dog, the sixth" -- all this being merely guesswork; and still others will say: "They were seven, and their dog, the eighth." Say: "My Lord knows their number best. Only a few know their correct number. So do not dispute concerning their number, but stick to what is evident, and do not question anyone about them (i.e. Muhammad was asking questions about them from people during those 15 days)." (Maududi)

On one side, Muhammad claimed that his Allah knew their numbers exactly, but on the other side, Allah didn't tell exactly their numbers. Why?

What harm would have happened if Allah had told the exact numbers of the people of the cave?

It seems Muhammad asked this question to different people during those 15 days and got contradictory answers about their numbers. Some told him they were 7, some said 5, and some said 3. Thus, in the end, Muhammad and his so-called Allah failed completely to answer the exact question i.e. how many were they?

Thus, Muhammad totally denied answering this question by telling Meccans that he cannot tell their numbers exactly while his Allah had prohibited him to dispute their numbers.

Actually, the incident of the people of the cave was only a fairy tale. But Muhammad thought it to be a real incident.

Note: Linda Kelly wrote (link):

Hadith tells us that angels won't enter a room where there is a dog. That means that for 309 years that the sleepers (i.e. the people of cave who were sleeping in the cave) were in the cave, no angel ever entered. Yet God says "We turned them...." The use of "we" clearly indicates the participation of angels. There is absolutely no reason to mention the dog as part of this story, except to make it clear to future generation that dogs are permitted to live among people, right "in their midst." And 18:22 clearly shows that the dog was counted right along with the believers

(2) Dhulqarnain:

Quran 18:83-88:

And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, "I will recite to you about him a report." We granted him power in the land and endowed him with all kinds of resources. He set out (westwards) on an expedition, until when he reached the very limits where the sun sets, he saw it setting in a spring (of) dark mud;
(.....then Quran told about the story of Dhulqarnain about his journey towards the last part of East ... and then Quran told about the story about the construction of wall which protects against Gog and Magog).

Here Muhammad again failed to tell the actual question, i.e. who the real character was behind Dhulqarnain. And this vague answer by Quran/Muhammad led Muslims into an endless cycle of confusion. For example:

  • Ibn Ishaq said that Dulqarnain was from Egypt.
  • Ibn Hisham said that Dhulqarnain was Alexander the Great, who built the city of Athens.
  • And when Ali Ibn Abi Talib was asked about Dhulqarnain, then he said that he was a pious man, and he had two horns and thus he was known as Dhulqarnain (which means a person with two horns).

All these contradictory statements only prove that none benefitted from these verses about the question of who the real character was behind Dhulqarnain.

Moreover, there are so many scientific mistakes in this story of Quranic Dhulqarnain. For example:

  • When the Quran claims that the sun sets into a spring of dark water, then it is a huge scientific mistake.
  • Moreover, today science has made it possible to search the whole planet earth, but neither has anyone ever found the wall that was made by Dhulqarnain, nor the nation of Gog and Magog whose numbers are so great that they outnumber the people on this planet earth.

We need a separate detailed article about these scientific mistakes in the Quranic story of Dhulqarnain.

(3) Ruh (The Spirit):

And the 3rd answer was even vaguer than the first 2 answers.

Quran 17:85:

They ask thee concerning the Spirit. Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)"

Actually, Muhammad simply denied answering this 3rd question by hiding behind the excuse that only little is told to humans about the spirit.

The reality is, there exists absolutely no Soul/Spirit. All these are only fantasy stories.

Result of these 3 Answers:

  • Muhammad didn't answer those 3 questions, but he actually "dodged" those 3 questions.
  • And as a result, not even a single person from Quraysh considered Muhammad to pass that test. And thus none of them accepted Islam. In fact, they became even more hostile to Muhammad while they then became surer than before that Muhammad got no revelation from Allah, but he was making all revelations on his own.

PS:

Actually, Muhammad was totally unable to understand which 3 questions Jews asked. The Jews were not asking about the people of the cave, or Dhulqarnain, or Spirit. Please see the following video in order to understand the actual questions of the Jews. How can then we believe that Jibril came to Muhammad with the answers, while Jews asked totally different questions i.e., the answers of Muhammad had nothing to do with the actual questions of the Jews.

Here Muhammad was immediately ready to show the miracle through Jibril. But the problem is, Jibril came up with an answer, which is a Scientific Error.

A child's resemblance with the father or mother is not dependent upon the fact who discharges first. Today we have test tube babies, where eggs are taken out of the mother's womb without any discharge, but still the child could resemble her.

The 3rd incident: Muhammad was unable to show the miracle of mysterious fire consuming the offerings

The Bible mentions in several places that the proof of prophethood of a person was a Divine acceptance of a person's sacrificial offering through the appearance of a mysterious fire which consumed the offering. (See Judges 6: 20-1 and 13: 19-20; 2 Chronicles 7: 1-2.). The Quranic verse of 5:27 and Muhammad's Ahadith (link) also tell the story of Adam and his sons, and how the fire appeared and consumed the offering of one son, who sacrificed the sheep.

Quran 5:27:

Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah): It was accepted from one, but not from the other.

Tafsir Tabari, under verse 5:27 (link):

Translation:

It was narrated from as-Suddi, in his narration from Abu Maalik and from Abu Saalih from Ibn ‘Abbaas, and from Murrah from Ibn Mas‘ood, and from some of the companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): No son was born to Adam but a daughter would be born with him, and the boy from this pregnancy would marry the girl from another pregnancy, and the girl from this pregnancy would marry a boy from another pregnancy. This continued till two boys Qabeel and Habeel were born. Qabeel was a grower of crops, and Habeel kept the livestock of animals. Qabeel was the elder one, and the sister that was born along with him was more beautiful than the girl who was born along with Habeel. When Habeel wished to marry the sister of Qabeel, then Qabeel refused to accept it and said: "She is my sister as she was born along with me, and she is more beautiful than your sister, and thus I have more right to marry her. But his father (i.e. Adam) ordered him to let Habeel marry her, but Qabeel still refused. And both of them offered a sacrifice to see who had more right upon that girl ... Habeel offered a fat lamb as offering, while Qabeel offered a sheaf of corn, but took out a big corn from it and ate it. Fire came down (from heaven) and consumed the offering of Habeel, but not that of Qaabeel [i.e., Haabeel’s offering was accepted and Qaabeel’s was not]. Upon that Qabeel became angry and he said: "I will certainly kill you, and you will not be able to marry my sister.
Grade: Sahih (Albani)

Thus, when Muhammad claimed prophethood, the Jews demanded him to prove his prophethood through the same miracle of fire consuming his offering.

It became impossible for Muhammad to deny this demand as proof, while it was clearly present in the Bible, and Muhammad had already repeated the story of Adam and his sons and proof of Divine acceptance in form of fire consuming the offering.

Therefore, this time Muhammad came up with a new excuse, in which he although accepted that the practice of accepting prophethood was indeed the miracle of fire accepting the offering, but he refused to show this miracle by blaming Jews that they killed their prophets.

Quran 3:183:

They (the Jews) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in any messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?"

But this excuse from the writer of the Quran (i.e. Muhammad himself) does not make any sense due to several reasons.

(1) Firstly, a person cannot be punished for the crimes of his ancestors. And in this case, the writer of the Quran is doing nothing else than claiming to punish the Jews of the era of Muhammad, due to the wrongdoing of a few of their ancestors, which is totally against Divine Justice.

Please also remember the story of the wolf and the lamb. The wolf had to eat the lamb, and he kept on blaming the lamb for different crimes. And in the end, he indeed ate the lamb by blaming him that it was then his parents (i.e. ancestors) who committed that crime.

(2) Secondly, the Jews of Muhammad's era still firmly believed in their holy book. Thus, they also firmly believed that the proof of prophethood was passing the miracle test too. Why was then it counted as their fault if they also asked Muhammad for the same proof, and rejected him after his failure?

When the Jewish holy books predict the coming of Muhammad (according to Muslim claim), then Islam wants Jews to follow their holy books. But when these same holy books of Jews ask them to demand the miracle of fire as proof of prophethood, then Islam wants them to abandon their holy books and not follow them. This approach is known as double standards

(3) Thirdly, the writer of the Quran is going against his own claim, where he said multiple times in the Quran that you will never see any change in the practices/ways (Arabic: Sunnah) of Allah.

Quran 48:23:

[This is] the established way of Allah which has occurred before. And never will you find in the way of Allah any change.

Quran 35:43:

Then do they await except the way of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way of Allah any change, and you will never find in the way of Allah any alteration.

Since Muhammad was unable to perform the miracle of fire in front of Jews, thus the ways of Allah changed immediately to accommodate Muhammad's inability to perform miracles.

(4) Fourthly, the ancestors of pagans (i.e. Mushrikeen) of Mecca didn't kill the prophets like Jews.

Therefore, according to the Sunnah of Allah, it was necessary for Muhammad to show them at least the miracle where the sacrificial offering would have been consumed by a mysterious fire.

But instead of showing them the miracle of fire consuming the offering, Muhammad was constantly making excuses that he was not sent to show them any miracle.

Why?

Why did Muhammad change the Sunnah of Allah in front of the Meccans and didn't show them the miracle of fire?

Allah enabled Moses to show a miracle in front of Mushrik Pharaoh and his people, but Allah again changed His Sunnah (i.e. way/practice) in the case of Mushrikeen of Mecca and Muhammad.

And the reason is very simple. None in the era of Muhammad (when the Quran was being revealed) was able to go back into the past, and confirm the Quranic stories of Moses and Adam.

Nevertheless, Muhammad was caught red-handed when the Meccans and then later Jews asked him to show the miracles according to the Sunnah of Allah.

Double Standards: Muhammad always denied showing any miracle of his prophethood, but always demanded others to show miracles of their prophethood

You have seen above how Muhammad always denied showing any miracle of his prophethood. But now let us see the following tradition, in which Muhammad himself demanded others to show miracles as proof of their prophethood.

Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 3055:

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Umar and a group of the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) set out with the Prophet to Ibn Saiyad. He found him playing with some boys near the hillocks of Bani Maghala. Ibn Saiyad at that time was nearing his puberty. He did not notice (the Prophet's presence) till the Prophet (ﷺ) stroked him on the back with his hand and said, "Ibn Saiyad! Do you testify that I am Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" Ibn Saiyad looked at him and said, "I testify that you are the Apostle of the illiterates." Then Ibn Saiyad asked the Prophet. "Do you testify that I am the apostle of Allah?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "I believe in Allah and His Apostles." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said (to Ibn Saiyad). "What do you see?" Ibn Saiyad replied, "True people and false ones visit me." The Prophet said, "Your mind is confused as to this matter." The Prophet (ﷺ) added, " I have kept something (in my mind) for you." Ibn Saiyad said, "It is Ad-Dukh." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), "Shame be on you! You cannot cross your limits." On that 'Umar said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Allow me to chop his head off." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If he should be him (i.e. Ad-Dajjal) then you cannot overpower him, and should he not be him, then you are not going to benefit by murdering him."

Conclusion:

Where there are contradictions, there are always lies present there.

Dear Muslims!

Please don't let anyone fool you anymore, and let you swallow all these contradictions in the name of religion.

Dr. Ali Shariati wrote:

At the birth of holy prophet (pbuh), enormous fire of Zoroastrians which had been burning for thousands of years in Istihrabad suddenly died out, fourteen towers of Kisra’s Palace in the city of Madayin fell down, but it effected not a single person in Mecca. It would have been a better if all 360 idols in Ka'ba would have fell down, so that the people of Meccan would know that something special happened on that day. But no such thing happened. (Ref: Dr. Ali Shariati, Book 23 Years).
